Vietnam

➡️ Yeah, one of the places that is off the radar for travelers is Vietnam. It’s a long skinny country with Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City in the south, but in the north is Hanoi.

➡️ Hanoi is an old city, it’s an ancient city, it’s bustling. It has lots and lots of people. It’s overwhelming at some points because it’s a sea. The street is a sea of little scooters and bicycles and people just moving around. You might think that you’re not going to cross that street, but you do. So you get up and you take that step off the curb and you swing your arms backward and forwards. You just keep on going and the bikes and the motorcycles are just like fish in the sea, they just swim around you. But that first step off the curb, you’re like “ahhhh I’m gonna die”, but you don’t. Nobody even thinks anything, they just keep right on going.

➡️ And so you go from bustling, old, ancient Hanoi and you go to a place called Sa Pa. It’s in the mountains. It’s green, it’s lush, it’s terraced. So, it has this sculpture essence to it. And it is the absolute opposite of Hanoi. Hanoi is “Big. Bustling. Go!” and Sa Pa is relaxed and peaceful and gentle. While you’re there you would stay, likely, with a family. You know, there’s not any high-rise hotels there. But there are some ecolodges. They generally sit on the crest of this mountain and you just overlook paradise.
