About Spain

Like so many European countries, Spain is diverse in terms of landscape, culture and food.  Sure there are festivals in many cities, but in Spain they celebrate La Tomatina where nearly 40,000 people throw more than 220,000 pounds of tomatoes at each other.

Sure there are races around the world, but in Pamplona, Spain the race is not toward the finish line, but away from a small group of angry bulls.  Sure there are beautiful churches to be admired, but throughout Spain (and beyond) there is a network of pilgrim routes that all lead to the shrine of the apostle James found inside the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.

Take a week or two or three to discover this amazing country.

Why I Love This Spot!

  • When I look for countries to visit, for myself or for my clients, I first think culturally interesting and then I think is it easy!  Holidays should not be hampered with hassle.  Spain has a great rail system, and it is easy to fly from one location to another, but I love to drive.  This is a quick outline of a driving trip I recently designed.--to spots I love.   Arrive Madrid, drive to Toledo, then to Cordoba, Ronda, Malaga and Granada.  Every one of these destinations spotlight dramatic landscapes, cathedrals, mosques, artisans, music, beaches and food of the Andalusian region.  I love this slice of the world because it is stunning and easy!!
